About

I am Emily Bloomquist, an expat living in Puerto López, Ecuador, a coastal fishing village with about 12,000 residents on the Pacific Ocean. Puerto Lopez is surrounded by a national forest and home to a turtle rescue foundation, assisting injured creatures so they can return to the wild. Humpback whales migrate from Antarctica annually to breed, birth and put on a show off our shore.

While growing up on a farm outside of Houston, Minnesota, USA, then working in the Silicon Valley, I always had an interest in living abroad. My husband and I left the corporate world, sold everything and moved to Ecuador in 2013.

Many people around the world know little about Ecuador. I decided to try to help change that. After living in Ecuador for four years, I began blogging in earnest in 2017.

My goal is to share Ecuador with you, one snippet at a time. Topics include activities, compassion, ecotourism, a nearby orphanage, Ecuador products, everyday Ecuador, and flora and fauna.
