Improving Living Conditions for Father and Daughter
Canadian Dodie Schadlich lives in La Libertad, Ecuador and helps those in her community who could use a bit of assistance. The following project to rebuild a father and daughter’s home is an example.

What does a person say? The hearts & generosity of people never cease to amaze me.
I received a significant anonymous donation today, its purpose is to rebuild a home for a single father and his 11 year old daughter.
Their current home is standing weakly in a drainage area in the barrios on the edge of town; last year with all the rains, it came close to washing away. The conditions are unsanitary and dangerous and sad to the core of ones soul.
The photos, the vision, often bring silence while the mind attempts to process.
I know personally the beautiful young lady that calls this place home and I cannot wait to tell her and her father, the precious gift they are about to receive.
Construction begins in February and the family moves into their new home in March.
Indoor bathroom
In a Facebook post, which you can read here, Dodie reveals exciting news for the father and daughter:
We can even include a small septic system. They will finally have a bathroom.
That’s right – the home will have an indoor bathroom, something most of us take for granted.
I am so impressed by Dodie, her team, and the anonymous donor, who are elevating the living conditions for this family.

UPDATE
The new home is complete and father and daughter are thrilled to be in their new home!

Wow. It's hard to imagine that in a world where most people think they're poor because they can't afford an iPad. Stories like this remind me to be thankful for every little thing.

Sorry for the delayed response Eric. Your comment was hiding in my spam folder.
I agree with you – be thankful for every little thing. Thanks so much for commenting.

Hi Emily – what a heartwarming story. Yes, we have so much we take for granted, don't we? How wonderful that there are folks who give just to give, not caring for recognition or reward. Thanks so much for sharing.

It is true Lizbeth, we do take so much for granted.
I love donors who are not seeking recognition. Thanks for visiting and commenting!

It is wonderful when people give from the goodness of their heart. Perhaps when this project is completed, you can give us an update on their new living quarters. Thanks for sharing this story and for being a part of #WATWB
