Fireworks – Any time is the right time #AtoZChallenge
Fireworks are used in Ecuador to celebrate following days:
- Holiday
- Birthday
- Monday
- Tuesday
- Wednesday
- Thursday
- Friday
- Saturday
- Sunday
At least, I think that is right.
I do not see fireworks every day. I see them any day. I never know when or where they will appear.
It is like a spontaneous party erupts in the sky out of nowhere. Often, my husband and I are not sure what is being celebrated (usually someone´s birthday). He will declare that it is a party for whichever day of the week it currently is.
¨Hey, it´s Tuesday! Let´s celebrate!¨
Then we sit back and enjoy the show.
New Year´s Eve fireworks
New Year´s Eve is always a spectacular fireworks night. The sky is filled with fireworks from mid-day until well past Midnight. It is a great time for fireworks lovers.
I took this 1 minute, 40 second sampling of the show at 12:39am on January 1, 2017 in Puerto Lopez, Ecuador:
Fun way to ring in the new year!

So pretty much any day is firework day there. I don't know as I'd like that much. Well, my dogs, I should say. They're not fond of the all the noise and one gets really freaked out. I suppose the animals there are used to it.

The dogs do not like it much but they do seem to do okay except on New Year´s Eve, when the fireworks are basically nonstop for hours.

Well, the animals here bark at anything, so I doubt they’re used to the explosions. And fireworks are one thing, setting off pure explosives from 6:30am to 10:30pm (yes, 16 straight hours of it) is another. Churches here seem to be interested in ruining people’s lives. It’s the churches that do this. Imagine trying to live life through what sounds like a war outside your front door.

Sounds like a lot of fun unless you are a dog.

Exactly right.

In Singapore we get to see fireworks during National Day and New Years Day. They do instill a feeling of celebration in the spectators mind

That seems the most common – one day per country for the anniversary plus New Years.

I do like to watch fireworks, but probably not that often! Heidi at, Decibel Memos (Perspectives absent of sound)

It does take some of the sense of awe away seeing them so frequently.

I don't think I would be happy with fireworks every day. The stress to animals, dogs in particular, make me feel it is antisocial to say the least. But them I've been accused of being a bit of a curmudgeon.
By the way I've given up on every successfully creating a link. Thanks for you advice nevertheless.

You would not be the only one. Some folks have been known to complain.
Wish we had gotten the link working for you.

Wow! Hungary usually does fireworks on August 20th (our version of 4th of July, sorta), but it is a debate every year, because they are expensive, and also tend to set things on fire…

The same debate went on in the San Francisco bay area when I lived there.

Firework looks so pretty! However, in my city, Delhi, being one of the most polluted cities in world I just can't agree with the idea as it makes it so difficult to breath around festivals… 🙁
I wish we had some laser version of it all over that would have kept air clean and sky pretty!
Thanks for sharing!
Best Wishes!
Emily Bloomquist
Laser fireworks would be absolutely wonderful! I hope that someone figures out how to do that.

I like that in a community – that any ol' day can be special enough to celebrate with glorious displays.
Then again, I come from a family of near-pyromaniacs… ;-D
Emily Bloomquist
It is cool to feel like a small part of the celebration when we see a fireworks display 🙂
Camille Flores
The same is true in Mexico. Fireworks any day, any hour!
Emily Bloomquist
Have you figured out the daytime ones? They still puzzle me.

Hi Emily – that's an amazing sight and no wonder you both sit back and enjoy the show. I just worry for the animals and birds … and less noise would suit me too. I remember as a kid not liking bangs – balloons bursting etc … I still flinch! Cheers Hilary

Hi Hilary, I had not thought about the birds before. It probably bothers them as much as the other animals. Thankfully they show up each morning with their beautiful songs.

I just love Fireworks, it kind of makes you happy. It's too bad there's so many restrictions here in the states on them
Emily Bloomquist
They are a lot of fun and beautiful. It is really funny that I am hearing fireworks as I am typing right now 🙂

Ha! That sounds great! They don't have super-regulatory fireworks laws – maybe not enough lawyers in Ecuador. In Hawaii, there are fireworks for the 4th and New Year's – the license is easy to obtain and even the supermarket will sell fireworks. But not the rest of the year. Maui Jungalow
Emily Bloomquist
You are right Courtney, not many fireworks laws in Ecuador. The laws are primarily regarding where they can be purchased – not within cities. Officials do not want a fireworks store to blow up in the middle of a town. Once you buy them, though, they can be transported and used anywhere as far as I can tell. I suspect large cities aren't as loose with their use as the smaller towns.
It is nice that you can purchase your own license for the two holidays.

If only we could have the visual treat without the noisiness – perfect!
Emily Bloomquist
That would be absolutely perfect, Nilanjana!
